Digital accessibility is essential

An accessible website works for everyone, for people with and without disabilities. That’s good for your users and it’s also legally required.

Accessibility - What is digital accessibility?

Digital accessibility means that everyone can use your website or application, regardless of disability, situation or device. Think of people who are blind, have low vision, don’t use a mouse or have difficulty reading. Accessibility ensures that no one is excluded.

EAA - WCAG & European legislation

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines are the international standard for accessible websites.

From 2025 these guidelines become legally mandatory for many commercial websites in the Netherlands with the arrival of the European Accessibility Act (EAA).

Why digital accessibility? - Why should you work on this now?

Digital accessibility is becoming increasingly important. Not only because it’s required, but because it delivers a lot for your organisation and your users:

  • You avoid legal risks

  • You expand your reach (20% of the population has a disability)

  • You improve UX for all users

  • You rank better in search engines

  • You show social responsibility
